Licence Holders

New European legislation has introduced requirements that drivers of passenger carrying and goods vehicles undertake 35 hours of approved training in every 5 year period. The requirements came into force for passenger carrying drivers in September 2008, and takes effect for lorry drivers from September 2009. Mainport Training offer courses of either ½ or 1 day duration to help transport operators meet their new responsibilities.

Licence holders are required to undertake at least 35 hours of approved training in every 5 year period. The requirements come into force as follows:

  • Bus and coach drivers to undertake 35 hours training before September 2013
  • Lorry drivers to undertake 35 hours training before September 2014
