Hook, Clamshell bucket or Clamp attachments on loaders of all sizes. This course will provide you with the basic skills, knowledge and information to safely operate a Lorry Loader. (The Lorry Loader could have a hook, clamshell bucket or hydraulic clamp). Participants will be able to Drive and operate the Lorry Loader safely

Hiab is a common term for Lorry Loader Crane. Hiab Cargotech is one of several truck mounted crane manufactures including Atlas, Palfinger, Fassi.

By attending our training you’re covered to operate any make of lorry loader crane and most Hiabs.

Basic Training 5 Days/Existing operators 3 Days/Conversion Training 2 Days/Refresher Training 1 Day

Roles and responsibilities
Safety rules for operators
Awareness of electricity and proximity hazards
Use of the operator’s handbook
Identify main components/ functions/operating controls
Hydraulics
Basic control techniques
Pre-use and running checks of vehicle, loader and close down procedure
Stability/stress factors
Environmental factors
Operator documentation, certificates, method statements, lift plans, duties charts etc
Inspection of Slings & Lifting equipment
Lorry Loader operations techniques, safe use of the lorry loader
Site the vehicle for lifting
Set up the carrier vehicle to carry out lifts from minimum to maximum radius
Keep within safe working parameters
Placing loads accurately
Lifting loads and placing loads on the vehicle and at ground level
Loading the lorry, position on vehicle, e.g. axel weights
Secure various loads on the vehicle bed
The effect of radius change on safe working loads
